The Chicago History Museum hosted a virtual lecture by Dr. Christopher Reed, an emeritus professor of history at Roosevelt University on Saturday, February 27th, 2021 at 3 pm CT. He shared perspectives and the importance and impact of the Great Migration on Chicago’s Black Metropolis.City Colleges of Chicago — the community system including Malcolm X, Kennedy-King, Harold Washington, and Olive-Harvey — has a series of events coming up, including Civil Rights Movement: Past, Present, Future.View the EventsDenver Public Art has a 28-piece Public Art tour celebrating the work of Black artists this month.Take the TourApollo Theater: Between the World and Me, based on Ta-Nehisi Coates’ #1 New York Times bestseller, is now streaming on HBO MAX and is directed by Apollo Theater’s Executive Producer, Kamilah Forbes.Learn moreNOLA Periodontics is running a series on their Instagram called “Great Smiles in Black History.” The series highlights a range of people spanning local entrepreneurs to iconic modern day heroes—and their great smiles.View the Series[section_break]

The American Writers Museum in Chicago as brought their exhibit online called “Frederick Douglass: Agitator”View the ExhibitThe Field Museum has a series of virtual events, including Armour Seminar: Black in STEM Keynote Lecture, where Dr. Edward C. Davis IV discusses his research in Africana Anthropology on Wednesday, February 24 at 12 pm CT.View the EventsDenver.org has a great compilation of upcoming events, including “Harriet Tubman - An Active Minds Event,” a free webinar.View the EventsAs we resume our plans to grow in Austin, sending support to the community there through the Austin Area Urban League, a historic civil rights organization dedicated to providing economic empowerment, educational opportunities and the guarantee of civil rights for African Americans and other underserved/underrepresented populations in the Austin/Central Texas region. They are currently hosting an emergency donation drive for the housing insecure communities of Austin, Texas. Support the Cause
